Opinion: It’s time to get rid of the Electoral College
We’re in this 2020 vote counting mess thanks to the antiquated Electoral College deciding who becomes president. In my opinion, this could be eliminated if the popular vote (the people) decided the outcome of the election.
In 2016 Trump lost the popular vote by 2,864,903 votes but won the Electoral College. That race was decided by the Electoral College and not the people.
Here we are again in 2020 with a close Electoral College race and a deceive popular vote with Biden leading Trump by 3,189,271 votes.

Now, Mr. Obama’s former vice president, Democratic nominee Joe Biden, has surpassed that tally, with a record 70,470,207 votes (50.3 percent), and counting, in the 2020 election.
Biden is currently leading the popular vote against President Donald Trump, who has collected 67,280,936 votes (48.0 percent) as of Wednesday afternoon.
There seems to be a movement toward the popular vote as indicated here. Colorado’s voters have backed the National Popular Vote Compact, a nationwide effort that would effectively neutralize the Electoral College and ensure that the presidential candidate who receives the most votes in the nation as a whole becomes president.
Obviously the out come of the race is still undecided. We’ll see what happens?
