Medium’s Web Sign-up Banner: An Eyesore and Just Plain Tacky?

Ah, the journey through Medium’s rollercoaster of changes. Brace yourself for a recent one that’s nothing short of a disaster! So, I did what any sane person would do and checked my site without logging in. Lo and behold, I was greeted by this god-awful sign-up banner, hogging half the page and blocking the damn content! Seriously, who the fuck thought this was a brilliant idea?

This banner isn’t just terrible, it’s deceptive too. Most people are going to think they need to create an account to read a post. People don’t want to create accounts they don’t need to just read something that I or someone else wrote on your platform!

I don’t know who’s responsible for this eyesore, but they clearly missed the memo on user experience. The banner is too massive and misleading.

Medium: this banner is more likely to make users want to flee than to stay and engage with your platform. And guess what that means? Our Google search results will suffer.

This whole banner mess is pure and unadulterated bullshit. It’s time to do some much-needed damage control and get rid of this abomination!
