Medium: Selling its soul for profit

I’ve been writing on Medium since 2015, and I’ve always made my writing free to all. I believe that everyone should have access to my content, regardless of their ability to pay.

That’s why I’m so disappointed with Medium’s latest changes. They’re making it harder and harder for non-partner writers to reach an audience.

I’m not in the Partner Program. I want to write about what I want when I want. I don’t want to have to worry about whether my work is going to be promoted or not. But now, it doesn’t matter. Even if I write the best article on Medium, it’s unlikely to be seen by anyone.

I’m disappointed that fewer people are going to see my writing, but I’m not going to change my principles. I’m going to continue to write free content for everyone, even if it means that I have a smaller audience.

If you’re a non-partner writer on Medium, I feel for you. But don’t give up. Keep writing and sharing your work. There are still people out there who want to read it. And remember, your writing will still be in Google Search, which is where most of the views for my content come from anyway.

And if you’re a reader, please support non-partner writers. Seek out their work also, and share it with your friends and followers. We need your help to keep our voices heard.
