One of the reasons I used Instapaper for many years was that you can share/export highlights as plain text, html, or markdown to wherever you want. This was important to my blogging workflow, particularly with link posts.
As I recently wrote, Instapaper has gone to shit, so I’m now using Goodlinks. I collect everything I want to read in Goodlinks, then if I want to link to something that I’ve read in a blog post, I export the article as markdown to Ulysses. You can also export as plain text and PDF.
