FTC seeks to break up Facebook, alleging illegal monopoly — TechCrunch
The Federal Trade Commission today announced a new antitrust lawsuit against Facebook, alleging that the social network has used monopoly power “with the aim of suppressing, neutralizing and deterring serious competitive threats,” and must be broken up. The suit is separate from, but was investigated in coordination with, one from 48 attorneys general also announced today.
I’m not a fan of Zuckerberg, Facebook, or any or the other shit that he peddles. In my opinion, he has no respect for the privacy of others. I hate the way he accumulates huge amounts of our data, most often without our permission, and then sells it to the highest bidder.
With that in mind, I fully support the action taken by US federal regulators and 48 state prosecutors and I hope they’re successful in breaking up Facebook.
